When I purged with Redline mix in my gas, the next time out my bike wouldn't start and when I pulled the bowls off, it looked like someone filled them with white lithium grease and it took hours to clean. I wouldn't recommend using redline to purge.

Has anyone else seen this if you purged using redline oil for alcohol?

I use Maxima 927 at a low ratio like 10-15:1 as there can't be to much oil. I think you should use something that mixes with alcohol otherwise the motor may run funny the next time out until the oil that doesn't mix with alcohol gets flushed out. I'm not sure this happens, but think it could.

I have never seen any corrosion using 927 and if K&T uses it, they must have not either.

10-15:1 is a ton of oil.
I think you meant you went to like 50-1?

we always purged with klotz just like we ran and had no problems at 32-1

any thing with castor is hygroscopic and is not a good storage oil, any marine oil will not absorb or contain water , you have to use a low octane fuel to purge with or it wont burn, reason being is the engine is set up to run at 5.5 to 1 A/F ratio and gas is over twice as lean to run and gas will not want to run at 5.5 to 1 no it wont deto. but the higher octane gas just doesnt like to burn that rich... I like to use 80 lowlead aviation fuel and supertech marine oil, storage is really good fuel wont varnish up and oil wont leave water behind I mix it really rich for a good residue and sometimes will use marine fogging oil also it really depends on your air and humidity values those on the west coast dont have the humidity we do in the south , you can hear our stuff rusting up lol

I could leave a bare chassis out all winter here and it still wouldnt rust that much! That is no joke it takes years to rust stuff here.
